What is All-on-X?

What is All-on-X? Date June 3, 2026

All-on-X is a term used to describe a full mouth dental implant treatment where a complete bridge of replacement teeth is supported by a customised number of dental implants.

The "X" simply represents the number of implants used. While some patients may be suitable for treatment using four implants (All-on-4®), others may benefit from five, six or more implants depending on factors such as bone volume, bite forces, jaw anatomy and treatment goals.

At Perth Dental Implant Centre, the number of implants recommended is determined by your individual clinical needs rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. For example, it is common for additional implants to be used in the upper jaw where bone quality is often softer and additional support may be beneficial.

Although the term All-on-X is commonly used, the treatment goal remains the same: to replace a full arch of missing or failing teeth with a fixed, implant-supported bridge designed to restore function, comfort and appearance.

During your free implant consultation*, your dentist will assess your bone levels, oral health and treatment objectives to determine the most appropriate number of implants for your situation, call us to book your appointment today.
