Which dental treatments qualify for early release of super?

In some circumstances, you may be able to access your superannuation early to help pay for dental treatment through the Australian Taxation Office's Compassionate Release of Super program.

Eligibility is assessed on a case-by-case basis and generally requires supporting evidence from registered health practitioners demonstrating that the treatment is necessary to alleviate acute or chronic pain, treat a medical condition, or address a condition affecting your mental wellbeing.

Dental treatments that may be considered include:

• Dental implants
• Full mouth dental implants (All-on-4®)
• Multiple tooth replacement
• Major restorative dental treatment
• Oral surgery
• Bone grafting procedures
• Tooth extractions (where clinically required)

It's important to understand that approval is not based on the type of treatment alone. The ATO will assess your individual circumstances and supporting documentation before determining whether your application meets the eligibility criteria.
