Bone, Gum Grafting and Sinus Lifts
There treatments are commonly provided in preparation for or during dental implant surgery.
Bone grafting is used to rebuild areas of lost jawbone, helping create a stable foundation for dental implants or to support natural teeth. The graft material is placed in areas of bone loss and allowed to heal and integrate over time.
Gum grafting helps treat receding gums, which can cause sensitivity and affect the appearance of your smile. Healthy gum tissue is repositioned or added to areas where it’s needed, supporting both function and aesthetics.
A sinus lift is performed when there isn’t enough bone in the upper jaw to support dental implants. It involves gently lifting the sinus and placing bone graft material to increase bone height.

Crowns & Bridges
Crowns are used to restore and strengthen damaged or weakened teeth, improving both function and appearance. They can also play an important role in supporting other restorative treatments.
A bridge uses crowns placed on adjacent healthy teeth to support one or more prosthetic teeth, effectively “bridging” the gap left by missing teeth. This fixed solution restores your ability to chew and speak while maintaining the alignment of surrounding teeth.
Bridges may be a suitable option when dentures feel loose or uncomfortable, or when dental implants are not suitable.

Sleep dentistry, also known as IV sedation, allows you to remain in a deeply relaxed, sleep-like state throughout your treatment. It is commonly used for longer or more complex procedures and may be suitable for patients who feel anxious about dental care. General anaesthesia may also be arranged for day surgery where appropriate.
Depending on your treatment needs, our dentists may recommend one of the following options:
- Local anaesthetic
- Oral sedation (tablet form)
- Intravenous (IV) sedation
- General anaesthetic

People Also Ask
-
What are false teeth?
-
How are false teeth fitted?
Modern false teeth are designed based on digital scans of your mouth. A dental prosthetist or technician makes your new teeth out of custom-milled PMMA (acrylic) or zirconia , then your dentist will call you back for a fitting. They can make minor adjustments to their shape and colour, based on your feedback, then your false teeth will be ready to use.
-
When do false teeth need to be relined?
Denture relines may be 'soft' or 'hard.' A soft reline involves placing a shock-absorbing barrier between the dentures and the gum and may last for 1 to 2 years. A hard reline involves reshaping the denture lining to provide a closer and more comfortable fit and is generally recommended every 2 years.
-
What’s the difference between a dental bridge and fixed implant bridge?
A dental bridge is a non-surgical treatment option that relies on neighbouring healthy teeth to stay in place. A fixed implant bridge requires surgery and is supported by dental implants that are placed into the jaw bone.
-
How long do dental bridges last?
Ceramic dental bridges last between 5 to 15 years on average, depending on how well they are cared for and the amount of wear and tear.
-
What is a dental bridge?
A dental bridge is one or more prosthetic teeth that fills the gap left by a missing tooth or multiple teeth. A bridge can be attached to existing natural teeth that have been reinforced with crowns for extra support, or to replace a front missing tooth a bridge can be attached by clasps bonded to the back of neighbouring teeth.
Bridges can be a suitable option when dentures are loose-fitting, uncomfortable or lacking aesthetically, or when dental implants are not a viable option.
-
How much does wisdom teeth removal cost?
The cost of having your wisdom teeth removed starts from $1,400 (four teeth)*.
The total cost depends on whether you opt to have them removed under IV sedation at our Applecross location or, whether you remove them under general anaesthetic at Southbank Day Surgery. The cost of sedation, anaesthetist fee and a hospital excess (typically $500) applies.
